
Legal education goes far beyond textbooks, and at DIMT Law College, experiential learning is given prime importance. In continuation of this approach, students of LL.B. recently visited a Lok Adalat, gaining firsthand exposure to India’s alternative dispute resolution system.
The concept of Lok Adalat, meaning “People’s Court,” is an integral part of the Indian judicial system. It focuses on amicable settlement of disputes through conciliation and compromise, ensuring speedy justice without the complexities of lengthy court procedures.
During the visit, students were introduced to the functioning of Lok Adalat, where cases related to civil disputes, matrimonial matters, motor accident claims, and compoundable criminal cases were being resolved efficiently.
